The veterinary services that the Connecticut Humane Society offers to the public—made possible thanks to donor support—cost families generally 20-30% less than most local veterinary clinics. Read on to see what services are available, and also be sure to check out the most frequently asked questions about our clinic services.

Services Offered (click here for COVID-19 updates)

The Fox Memorial Clinic DOES NOT offer the following services:

  • Emergency care and treatment
  • Elective cosmetic surgery (such as tail docking, ear cropping and declawing)
  • Boarding and grooming

Office Visits:

Wellness Examinations

An annual exam is an essential preventative tool for your pet. Scheduled by appointment, this is an opportunity for pet owners to discuss questions and concerns with the veterinarian. Vaccinations and other necessary treatments are also available during the visit.

Parasite Control

The Clinic has all of the diagnostics and treatments necessary to keep your pet free from both internal and external parasites. Visit the Parasites article to learn why treatment and prevention are so important for your pet’s overall health.

Microchips

One in three pets goes missing during its lifetime.  A microchip is another method of ID that links your pet back to you and increases your chances of reuniting with your pet if it is lost. It is the size of a grain of rice and is inserted between your dog’s shoulder blades with a simple injection. Veterinary hospitals and shelters have scanners that can read these chips, should your pet become lost and separated from his collar and tags.

Special Clinics:

Vaccine Clinics

In addition to full exams, low-fee vaccination clinics are available to protect pets from common, yet potentially harmful, diseases.  Appointments are required; walk-ins are not accepted. Click here for the current schedule and additional information.

Heartworm Clinics

Currently on hold due to COVID-19. CHS’ heartworm clinics include testing for heartworm disease and discounts for preventative heartworm medications. All clinics are by appointment only; walk-ins cannot be seen. Click here for more information about protecting your dog.

Surgery Services:

Surgical services are available on a limited basis, with priority given to treating medical issues. Elective surgeries are currently available on a limited basis to existing clients only.

Diagnostics:

Radiology

X-rays are an important diagnostic tool used to look inside your pet’s body. The in-house equipment provides quick results and is safe for your pet. Radiology is performed by qualified staff technicians.

Laboratory Services

The Clinic has an in-house blood machine and microscopy services to provide a broad array of immediate results. Affiliation with a major off-site laboratory provides pets and their families access to an expanded range of services, including chemistry profiles, biopsies, allergy testing and much more.

Compassionate Euthanasia

It is extremely difficult to say good-bye to a beloved pet. Veterinary professionals will help you with “end-of-life” decisions by providing you with the compassion and information required to make the choice that is right for you and your pet.
