This vibrant and whimsical show features local artists who bring their love for cats and dogs to life through painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media.

Be You Wilton Pride Festival

Save the date! Wilton Pride, in partnership with Wilton Library, will be bringing back the third annual Wilton Pride “Be You” Festival on Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Building upon the previous year’s great success, this year’s festival will feature music, performing arts, exhibits, food trucks and much more on the Town Green.

PETtalk: Paint Your Pet

With watercolors as your medium, Connecticut Humane Society staff as your guides, and an 8” x 10” blank slate canvas, you’ll create a masterpiece of your beloved pet. This is an opportunity for people of all art skill levels, no prior painting experience required!

Your ticket for this workshop includes an 8”x10” watercolor canvas, all the art supplies you’ll need, and step-by-step guidance from CHS staff.

Whether you paint a pastel pittie, a monochrome Maine Coon or a bold bunny, all types of pets are welcome to be painted. Don’t have a pet at home? Paint one of CHS’ pets who is awaiting adoption.

Spots are limited. Pre-registration is required. Open to painters ages 12+. All children under 18 must attend with a registered adult.

Important note: No live muses, please–no exceptions. This event is not pet friendly. Please submit a photo of the pet you would like to paint during registration.

Visit the Connecticut Humane Society Booth at YMCA Healthy Kids Day!

Families are invited to attend YMCA Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 26th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM—a community event focused on fun, wellness, and family-friendly activities.

This exciting day includes gymnastics, a dance expo, book fair, swimming, archery, and many more engaging activities designed to promote healthy lifestyles. Be sure to stop by the Connecticut Humane Society booth to learn more about programs, services, and the mission to strengthen the bond between people and pets.

The event wraps up with the 3rd annual Duck Race, offering participants a chance to win fantastic prizes!

Dr. Julie Smith is a veterinary surgeon, veterinary business owner and Board Member of Sage Compassion for Animals, a nonprofit awarding grants to pet parents that cannot afford the veterinary care that their pet needs. She is also one of nine veterinarians in the United States who has been chosen to sit on the Veterinary Economic Strategy Committee that examines the economics of the veterinary industry that impacts pet owners, pets and the veterinary community.

Reading to Pets in Waterford

Read at the Waterford Adoption Center for a limited-run program, “Reading to Pets”. Designed for children ages 6-18, the session will help sharpen your child’s reading skills while allowing them to spend quality time with an adoptable pet.

During their session, children will have the opportunity to read to cats or small pets, all of whom are excited to lend a furry ear to any new or seasoned reader. Bring your favorite book or pick from one provided by CHS.

Watch your child’s confidence in reading grow as they bring comfort and compassion to shelter pets. Reading sessions are 20 minutes long and will be offered on April 15, 16, and 17. Pre-registration is required.

Tickets will be for specific time slots of 10:30 am-11 am, 11 am-11:30 am, and 11:30 am-12 pm.

There is a registration fee of $12.51 per child, per session. One adult must accompany their reader for the entire session. Due to space limits and safety requirements, only one reader and one adult per reservation. Siblings and additional adults are not able to accompany you and your child to the session.
