This sweet senior dog is looking for a fresh start this year. Troop is a 7-year-old Pit Bull terrier who would love a home where he can rest his big head on your feet, or spend an afternoon leisurely walking through the woods. His squishy personality is sure to win over anyone who meets him, and he’d love the opportunity to prove that to you!

You might have noticed that Troop is missing an eye. And that he only walks on three paws. While some dogs wear their scars on the inside, some wear them on the outside, and there’s no denying that Troop’s had his fair share of ruff times. With a missing eye and 3 working legs, when you see this sweet senior cross your path, there’s no avoiding the thought “what have you been through, poor pup?”

Troop’s had a few unfortunate accidents. The first one, many years ago, cost his right eye. And then after that, a car accident caused him to lose function in his right leg. His previous family loved him very much, but when they fell on hard times, they could not keep him in their lives, and so began his journey at the Connecticut Humane Society.

When the medical team assessed Troop’s conditions, they were relieved that his only source of discomfort was his skin allergies. Since his car accident had been so long ago, Troop had learned to cope well without the use of his right front leg. No pain or discomfort there meant that amputation would not be required for Troop at this time.  And the solution to his skin allergies was easy: daily oral medication. This sweet dog was cleared for adoption, and now awaits a loving new family (while getting plenty of TLC and one-on-one time with staff here at CHS – napping on their feet whenever he gets the chance).

He’s a trooper, through and through, and he’s never been one to let a little hardship get him down.
