Tribute/Memorial Gift Questions

Q: I’d like to make a gift in memory or in honor of someone. Where do I enter the name of the person I’d like to dedicate my gift to?

A: Check the box that says “Dedicate this donation” on the very first screen when making a gift, under where you choose your gift amount.

Q: After I enter my credit card information, whose first/last name, email address and phone number is it asking for?

A: This is where you enter your (the donor’s) information.

Q: After I enter my name, email and phone number, whose address is it asking for?

A: This is where you enter your (the donor’s) address.

Q: Where do I enter the family/personal information for the person that I’m dedicating gift to?

A: Once you complete your gift (after you enter your address), the next screen gives the option to send a card with your dedication. If you click this button, it will bring you to a new page, with all of your dedication options. This is where you choose the dedication type, who it’s dedicated to, who it’s from, a message, the recipient’s first and last name. You can even choose between sending a physical card, or an email. Depending on which option you choose, it will ask for the recipient’s contact information (either their email or their mailing address).

If you accidently click out of this screen, don’t fret! Another way to complete your dedication is through an email that you’ll receive when you complete your gift. An automatic email is generated, asking if you’d like to complete your dedication with a personal message. If you follow the link in this email, it’ll bring you to the same dedication page, with all of the same options.

Q: HELP! I made a gift, but I wanted to dedicate it to someone. How can I do so after I already made my gift?

A: No worries! There’s two ways you can add the dedication. First, through your donor portal, which is automatically created for you when you gave your gift. You can access your portal two ways:

      • Open one of your recent emailed receipts. Scroll to the bottom, where there’ll be a button that says “Manage my donation”. Clicking on the button will bring you to your donor portal.
      • Visit donors.cthumane.org and enter the email address used when signing up.

Once there, scroll to your donation history, and click the arrow to “Show Details” of the gift you’d like to add the dedication onto. On the next page, the very first option is if you’d like to add a dedication.

Q: I need to update/change my credit card/payment details. What do I do?

A: There’s two ways you can going about updating your payment information. First, through your donor portal, which is automatically created for you when you gave your gift. You can access your portal two ways:

      • Open one of your recent emailed receipts. Scroll to the bottom, where there’ll be a button that says “Manage my donation”. Clicking on the button will bring you to your donor portal.
      • Visit donors.cthumane.org and enter the email address used when signing up.

Once there, scroll to your recurring donation, and click the arrow to “Show Details” of your plan. On the next page, click “Edit Payment Details”. Here you can edit all of your recurring gift information, including your payment method.

Q: How do I know my donation is secure?

A: The Connecticut Humane Society uses the platform FundraiseUp for all online donations. They use industry-standard SSL technology to keep your information secure. FundraiseUp partners with Stripe, the industry’s established payment processor trusted by some of the world’s largest companies. Your sensitive financial information never touches their servers. FundraiseUp sends all data directly to Stripe’s PCI-compliant servers through SSL.
