Germ Busters
The Newington adoption center needs volunteers to join the Germ Busters team. Volunteers help control the spread of harmful diseases by working to keep the building clean and disinfected. Duties include cleaning dog kennels and mopping floors.  Apply to Volunteer for this position.

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types of animals, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision, able to follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with staff, other volunteers and the public.

Commitment: 2 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Wednesdays 8AM-10AM
Fridays 8AM-10AM

Landscape Assistant
Volunteers are needed to assist our Newington Maintenance team with the upkeep of our grounds and walking trails. Duties will include weed whacking and cutting back overgrown branches and weeds.  Apply to Volunteer for this position.

Requirements: 18+, have active health insurance, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision, able to follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with staff and other volunteers. Must have experience with weed whacking and must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions.

Commitment: 4 hours per week on a set-schedule for at least 6 months. This is a seasonal position (May-October)

Open Shifts:  Thursdays 8:30AM-12:30PM

Professional Dog Trainers
The Newington shelter is looking for certified, professional dog trainers to work with our dogs on basic obedience and behavior modification. We especially need trainers who can work on loose-leash walking and reactivity.   Apply to Volunteer for this position.

Requirements:  18+, have active health insurance, comfortable working around all types of dogs, be in good physical condition, able to work independently with limited supervision, able to follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with staff and other volunteers, dog training certification and professional experience.

Commitment: 2 hours per week for at least 6 months

Open Shifts:
Flexible scheduling. Must be available between the hours of 8AM and 5PM.
