Have you been…
-wondering what to do with that extra space in your home?
-looking for a way to make a difference for pets and families in your community?
-wanting to foster, but worry you’d fall in love and adopt the pet?
Consider joining the Connecticut Humane Society’s crisis foster program, also known as the Safe and Sheltered Pets Program!
What is Crisis Foster?
Instead of surrendering to the shelter, this life-changing initiative allows pet owners to keep their beloved animals as they get through a rough patch. Their pets are able go to foster homes while temporarily unable to care for them. Some reasons we offer Crisis Fostering are military deployment, hospital stay, housing issue, house fire, and domestic violence.
When the owner is ready, they are able to reunite with their animal and take them home. A pet and their human shouldn’t have to say goodbye for good when a tough situation may only be temporary.
By becoming a crisis foster, you’ll keep pets out of shelters and support them in keeping the homes they already know and love. CHS will provide any necessary medical care while the pet is in our care and provides all supplies foster parents need, including food, leashes, beds, litter and litter boxes, toys, blankets and more.
Fostering changes pets’ lives, but also the lives of the people who love them. It’s a rewarding experience you won’t soon forget.
