Wilton, September 8th, 2023 — While economic uncertainty looms for many families, Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) is making certain that pets get to stay in the homes where they are loved, for life.
Providing resources to keep pets healthy, happy and at home is an ever-growing part of CHS’ mission, which will be a focus for the new animal resource center that will be located in Wilton, CT.
After officially contracting Viking Construction out of Bridgeport, CT in July 2023, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new animal resource center will happen on Thursday, September 7th from 5:30-6:30pm during a private event.
The animal resource center is scheduled to open in the fall of 2024 and will serve pets for decades to come. It will include reduced-fee veterinary services for the public, a Pet Food Pantry and a humane education classroom for programs for all ages. The facility will also provide low-stress accommodations for pets seeking adoption into a permanent home.
“It just makes sense. If a pet is at risk of surrender because of high veterinary or other costs, CHS can step in, provide the care that pet needs, and thereby keep the family unit intact. After these past couple of years, we know just how vital our pets are to our own health and wellbeing. Keeping families and pets together is the goal. We are thrilled to be bringing this model to Fairfield County to build on the work done at CHS’ Fox Memorial Clinic in Newington” says James Bias, Executive Director of CHS.
“This project will help ensure that countless pets are cared for in a modern medical building that will provide important services for years to come,” said Anthony Gaglio, Jr., vice-president of Viking Construction, Inc. “It will make a positive difference to so many local residents and their pets.”
Expanded services for the community of pet owners is near at hand. Groundbreaking is set for Fall 2023, with a grand opening in Fall of 2024. More information can be found at CThumane.org/Wilton.
