CHS programs are offered both in-person and virtually.
Whether you’re involved with a library, senior center, civic group, or another community organization, CHS offers a number of unique and engaging pet-themed programs and workshops for adults of all ages. CHS representatives are not able to bring live pets on visits, instead life-size plush pets attend each program for hands-on learning!
Beyond the Breed: Exploring Dog DNA
Dog owners are becoming increasingly interested in the genetic make-up of their furry family members. As the popularity of Canine DNA testing grows and the trend of “Breed Reveal Parties” takes hold, the need for a general understanding of dog evolution and genetics grows. In order for owners to fully understand how their small mixed breed dog could possibly have German Shepherd in its DNA, they need a basic understanding of canine genetics. This program will provide the skills needed to identify dog breeds based on their phenotypic characteristics, give background information in canine evolution, and provide a basic understanding of canine genetics.
