Scrump and Squish spent their first six months side by side. They were quite the surprise to their previous family who carried them into the Connecticut Humane Society. And that’s how the pet resource center in Wilton became their stepping stone to a brighter future.

If cuteness could cure, these two would have had smooth sailing to the adoption floor, but unfortunately, the medical team found a few concerns in their assessment. Both kitties were dealing with a significant overbite. And with no adult teeth coming in the immediate future, there was nothing that could be done for their little mouths besides monitoring for injury.

For both of them, the overbite meant future dental work once their adult teeth grew in, which meant finding the right family would be a bit more difficult. Squish also had a mild heart murmur and an upper respiratory infection that needed time, medication, and daily care with the CHS medical team. Good thing the pet resource centers are well-equipped for that!

Day by day, Squish’s sniffles faded, the two were spayed, and both kittens grew strong enough to meet families with no immediate dental issues arising. But finding the right home took patience—one that understood their future medical needs and saw just how special these two were.

In early December, the perfect match walked through the doors. A family fell for the way Scrump tucked into Squish like a puzzle piece, and how Squish purred loud enough for the both of them. The pair went home together, exactly as they were meant to.

Now Scrump and Squish are celebrating their first holiday season curled up together, wrapped in soft blankets, and discovering the magic of a home all their own—one ready to love them through every purr, every dental tune-up, and every cozy winter nap to come!
