What started as a “ruff” road for this little pup became an inspiring “tail” of bravery and belonging. Little Pez was brought to local animal control after his family couldn’t make ends meet anymore. The animal control officers there cleaned him up, gave him a good haircut, showed him lots of love, and realized that a few of his medical issues needed some support before he’d be ready for a brand new home.

Because of the Connecticut Humane Society’s longstanding relationship with animal control, they knew just where to bring this adorable young Maltese. And from the moment he arrived at CHS, Pez showed his playful side, but it was also clear that all of the changes he was going through was a bit overwhelming. While he started off more timid around some people, he was a very brave little dog, and all it took to win him over was a gentle voice, some patience, and a yummy treat.

As they do with every pet who arrives, medical concerns or no, the medical team gave him a full assessment and discovered that Pez’s issues all stemmed from a sensitive stomach. They got him on a prescription diet so he’d feel his best, and then all that was needed for him to be placed for adoption was a neuter surgery. While he awaited this final procedure, Pez made his way to a loving foster home so he could spend some time in a comfortable house. Lucky for him, that foster home recognized a perfect little pup when they saw one, and they knew he was the right pet for them. Pez was neutered, recovered well, and his temporary home transitioned to a full-time one.

And that made it official—Pez was home. He was where he belonged. Thanks to supporters like you, Pez didn’t have to face the scary changes alone. Now, with his paws planted firmly in a loving place, he’s ready for all the adventures ahead, and yes, he’s still got his brave face on.
