tiger and white cat getting petted

This easygoing cat arrived at the Connecticut Humane Society and quickly made himself at home, settling into shelter life with a calm demeanor and a strong appreciation for treats.

Big Papa came to CHS in May from a partner shelter and was soon given a clean bill of health, ready to begin his search for a family. While days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, he remained patient, gentle, and endlessly food-motivated, happily accepting every snack and all of the attention that came his way from loving staff and volunteers.

From the start, his personality was unmistakable. Big Papa was a fan of the simple things: a cozy place to lounge, a friendly face nearby, and, of course, the promise of his next treat. Staff came to know him for his steady nature and the quiet charm that made him easy to love.

Time passed, but Big Papa never lost his spark. He continued to greet each day with the same relaxed attitude, soaking up affection and waiting for the right match to come along.

That moment finally arrived on a beautiful day in April. A family visited CHS, met Big Papa, and felt an immediate connection. After recently losing their cat, they recognized something special in him and knew they were ready to welcome that kind of love back into their lives.

Big Papa stepped into his new home just as he had in the shelter: calm, content, and ready to settle in. Now, he spends his days lounging with his family, enjoying the comfort he waited so patiently for, and, as always, keeping an eye out for the treats he knows he deserves.
