Silly Pet Portraits

Make a gift of $25 or more by Monday, September 30th and have your pet’s picture turned into a Silly Pet Portrait by a local student!

Local students of all ages are excited to get creative with your pet’s portrait! All art will be 8.5”x11”, but every piece of art will be unique. Students may use crayon, marker, paint, colored pencils, or any other art materials to create a portrait. *Please note: the art that will be created will be done by local students of varying artistic talents. Be prepared for the unexpected from your silly pet portrait!*

Your donation to this fundraiser will go to right to local pets in need. Learn all about CHS and its mission here.

Art is expected to arrive in your mailbox by the end of October.

Please call 800-452-0114 x 6314 or contact marketing@cthumane.org with any questions.

Reading to Pets

Join the Connecticut Humane Society at the Newington Pet Wellness and Adoption Center for a limited-run program, “Reading to Pets”. Designed for children ages 6-18, the session will help sharpen your child’s reading skills while allowing them to spend quality time with an adoptable pet.

During their session, children will have the opportunity to read to cats or small pets, all of whom are excited to lend a furry ear to any new or seasoned reader. Bring your favorite book or pick from one provided by CHS.

Watch your child’s confidence in reading grow as they bring comfort and compassion to shelter pets. Reading sessions are 20-minutes long and will be offered August 12, 13, and 15. Pre-registration is required.

There is a registration fee of $14.64 per child, per session. One adult must accompany their reader for the entire session. Due to space limits and safety requirements, only one reader and one adult per reservation. Siblings and additional adults are not able to accompany you and your child to the session.
