Just because they’re small animals doesn’t mean their needs are small. Little Rose, a beautiful French Angora rabbit, arrived with a laundry list of medical needs. Luckily, CHS veterinarians are up to the task, no matter how big, small, young, or old their patients are. Every pet deserves the care they need to live a happy and healthy life!

Rose came to CHS from a partner rescue with another rabbit, but the two quickly showed that they weren’t meant to share space. After a few scuffles, Rose had injuries around her eye and was clearly uncomfortable. On top of that, she had developed a mild case of conjunctivitis. It was nothing the medical team couldn’t handle—but it would take time and expertise to get her feeling well again.

The veterinary team started with a full health exam, confirming that she was otherwise in good shape and strong enough for treatment. They treated her conjunctivitis right away and planned for two important procedures: a spay surgery and a delicate repair to the injured eyelid. To ensure the best possible outcome, CHS consulted with an ophthalmologist who agreed the surgical repair was the right call. With that guidance, CHS carefully performed her surgery and monitored her recovery every step of the way.

For a few weeks, Rose sported a tiny e-collar to protect her healing eye. Despite the awkward accessory, she stayed calm and curious—always ready for her favorite snacks and grooming sessions. As her fur grew back and her eye fully healed, her personality began to shine. This bunny was ready to binky all the way home!

Once she was medically cleared and spayed, Rose was ready to find a home. Her new family understood exactly what a French Angora needs—regular grooming, a balanced diet, and plenty of love. Now, she’s enjoying her days hopping around her new space, munching on greens, and soaking up attention from people who adore her and her new fur sibling, a big dog!

At CHS, every pet who arrives receives the same level of care and attention as Rose did—whether they have paws, claws, or feathers. Each one gets the medical exams, behavioral support, and time they need before adoption, so they can start the next chapter of their lives healthy, happy, and ready to thrive.
