When Posey first arrived at the Connecticut Humane Society from a local municipal animal control partner, it was clear she’d been through a lot. The tiny, long-haired Chihuahua—just ten years old and barely five pounds—carried a lifetime of stories with her. Her fur was tangled and dirty, and her skin was sore from mats that pulled with every movement. But beneath all that, Posey’s spark was impossible to miss.

Even on her first day, her tail wagged at every kind word. She leaned in for affection, eager to trust again. A loving volunteer spent lots of time with her in the grooming room getting her fur under control, and then the CHS medical team got right to work, making sure she was comfortable, healthy, and pain-free. It took time, patience, and a lot of TLC to get her skin soft again and to make sure she felt her best.

Once she was ready, Posey didn’t wait long to catch someone’s heart. Her new family saw what everyone at CHS had already discovered—that this little dog’s joy could fill a room. Now she’s spending her days exploring the outdoors, trotting proudly through piles of fall leaves, and curling up at night knowing she’s finally home.
