Last September, a handsome black-and-white cat was living on his own on a quiet stretch of property in Quaker Hill. Ten-year-old Miller had made himself at home in a barn, where a good Samaritan discovered him and began providing him food. But this good Samaritan soon realized Miller needed more care than could be provided in a barn, and the senior kitty was brought to the Connecticut Humane Society in Waterford, where he was able to get the medical attention he needed.
When Miller arrived, he had a broken tooth and was aching from swelling on his right hind leg. The CHS medical team got to work and with loads of well-received TLC from the team, Miller’s teeth and leg were healed and he was ready to begin looking for a family.
Finding the right home for him took time, as it can with older pets. Miller spent nearly six months in CHS’ care before the family he had been waiting for walked through the door.
They were looking for a sweet boy to snuggle with—and Miller was ready for them. On adoption day, Miller was purring as he posed for his very first family photo. The wait was worth it. Today, he’s enjoying the peaceful home and pampering he deserved all along.
While senior pets may need a little extra patience, support, or care, they also bring something wonderful to a home: purrsonality, affection, and unmatched companionship.
Congratulations, Miller and family! Here’s to a new chapter filled with magical moments together.
