This petite cat just wanted a family, and thanks to support from friends like you, she was able to find one! Thanks to CHS medical and behavior teams, Jayden was also able to go home as happy and healthy as possible.

Spooky decorations, pumpkin spice, orange and black cats finding new homes…it’s officially October! Petite Jayden is celebrating with a new home of her own.

This 3-year-old orange and white domestic shorthair came to Connecticut Humane Society after her previous owner’s landlord would not allow her to stay. When Jayden arrived, she was especially small and needed to gain some weight before she could be ready for adoption.

There was just one problem: Jayden wasn’t particularly interested in eating.

Staff soon discovered that this quiet girl preferred a little company with her meals. So, they sat with her while she ate, offering the reassuring company she needed to feel comfortable. Day by day, Jayden began eating more and more and becoming healthier with every bite.

After she’d gained enough weight for her spay, CHS veterinarians discovered a hard mass on her leg as they were prepping her for surgery. They were able to test the lump at the same time she was spayed, and sent the results off to a lab. Before Jayden could be cleared for adoption, the veterinary team wanted to make sure the mass wasn’t something that needed additional treatment. Fortunately, the tests came back clear: the mass was not cancerous, and Jayden was given the okay to find her new family.

Once she was ready, it didn’t take long for the right person to notice this sweet girl.

Now, Jayden is settling into a new home having arrived there in her very own backpack, ready to safely check out the world alongside her new family.

After a lean and quiet start, Jayden now has a lifetime of love to look forward to. This orange cat’s October wish came true: a loving home where she can take her time, feel safe and simply be herself.
