When Ashley arrived at the Connecticut Humane Society, she had already been through a difficult season. Her previous family wasn’t able to give Ashley the life they knew she deserved, and they brought her to find a new home that could give her a beautiful new beginning.
As they do for every pet who arrives, the medical team gave her a full assessment, and it became clear that this eight-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier was suffering from a wound on her tail, itchy skin, and joints that ached from the extra weight that she was carrying.
With a personalized treatment plan from the stellar medical team, Ashley enjoyed medicated baths that soothed her dry and itchy skin. She loved every moment of her baths because the excellent staff soothed her aching joints with shoulder and hip massages, while also treating her to hot dogs as a special treat. She was receiving five-star treatment, like all the pets receive.
The medical team also placed her on a special therapeutic diet consisting of nutritious foods that she loved to heal her skin from the inside out. The wound on her tail was healing beautifully with medication and consistent care.
All the while she was being cared for by the medical team, Ashley was also enjoying all the sights and smells that the hiking trails right had to offer. She was eager every day to get out and exercise. Every walk was fascinating to this curious pup. The staff and volunteers who spent time with her throughout the day reported that Ashley was patient and relaxed as she continued to explore her surroundings. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with pawsome people every day.
Despite all the challenges that Ashley had faced, her tail wagged every time she met a new human, and she was always happy to start a new day filled with an extraordinary adventure. Ashley could not wait to experience the same unconditional love that she gave to everyone who crossed her path in a home of her very own. Her age, medical needs, and size (weighing approximately seventy-two pounds of love) took extra time to find her placement, because she was meant for the right family who were ready to love her. Ashley spent a little over a month here, but it was love at first sight when Ashley locked eyes with her devoted family, who came in to adopt an adorable dog.
Today, this wonderful senior sweetheart is home in time for the holidays, and she now spends her days enjoying the unconditional love and devotion that she deeply deserves.
