Whether it’s a walk through the park, a hike on your favorite trail, a visit to a pet-friendly café, a scenic drive, or simply relaxing at home, every adventure gives a dog the chance to enjoy new experiences and show off their unique personality.
You choose the adventure—CHS staff will match you with a dog who’s ready to tag along.

Why join the Pup Scouts?
A few hours outside the adoption center can make all the difference. The Pup Scouts Field Trip program is available in Newington and Wilton.
Field trips give dogs the opportunity to:
-
-
- Explore new sights, sounds, and smells
- Build confidence in new environments
- Meet new people along the way
- Show their personality outside the adoption center
- Create photos and stories that connect them with potential adopters
-
Best of all, you’ll have an unforgettable adventure buddy for the day.
If spending the day with a Pup Scout leaves you wanting more, consider becoming a foster volunteer. Opening your home for a little while gives pets the opportunity to relax in a home environment while they wait for adoption.
Enjoy your day together!
