If Jay Raven could add a furry co-host to his radio show, you’d probably hear some meows or woofs on the air in no time. The Star 99.9 personality (who just goes by Raven) is all about animals, using his platform to promote adoptable pets and encourage others to get involved, too.
In fact, animals inspire him so much that he’s running his first 5k road race in an effort to fundraise for Connecticut Humane Society pets. Raven will be hitting the pavement on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the SoNo Half Marathon event in Norwalk.
Cheer for Raven and support CHS pets by donating to his cause here. He’s competing in the race against cohost Anna Zap, and whoever crosses the finish line first receives an extra $1,000 to donate to their charity! If you want to run the race for CHS pets, too, join Raven’s team by encouraging friends and family to donate at his fundraiser link.
Raven has long been a supporter of CHS and animals in need. He features adoptable CHS pets in his weekly Pet Pals video segments on Star 99’s website and social media, runs a donation and supply drive for furry friends every holiday season, and highlights CHS Puppy Bowl ambassadors with Star 99.
And his two rescue pups at home remind him every day to keep at it.
“I know firsthand the profound effect caring for animals and the love of pets has on their human counterparts,” Raven says. And with the high number of animal cruelty cases in the media this summer, he believes “the support services, housing and placement done by the Connecticut Humane Society is more important than ever in here in our state.”
