PETtalk: Is it an Emergency?

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join CT Humane Society and Dr. Amanda Sterman as we look into what makes something a pet emergency!

As pet lovers, we want to do everything possible to help our four legged companions through a medical emergency, but not all conditions and injuries need to be dealt with right away. Some issues can wait to be seen by your local vet, while other situations require an immediate response from a 24-hour emergency veterinary practice.

During this free webinar, Dr. Amanda Sterman will provide attendees with a better understanding of the most common pet emergencies, why something would be considered an emergency and what your next steps should be should an emergency arise with your beloved pet. Dr. Sterman will also review non-emergency situations and how to best support pets when these arise.

Have a question? Submit it during registration or ask it live during the talk.

About the Speaker

Dr. Amanda Sterman started her career in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant at the age of 16. She then graduated from Becker College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine while simultaneously obtaining her veterinary technician certification, so that she could continue working and learning in both emergency medicine and general practice while going to veterinary school. She then earned her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 followed by clinical training at NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She performed her internship at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center and now works as an emergency room clinician at Central Hospital of Veterinary Medicine in North Haven, CT.

When she is not at her full time job, Dr. Sterman enjoys working with the team at CT Humane Society. Outside of work, she enjoys spending her free time hiking with her dogs, being out on the water with her husband and gardening. Dr. Sterman values community education, especially when it comes to teaching others how to respond to a pet emergency.
