You can now add “superhero” to the Connecticut Humane Society’s list of alumni.
That’s right. A superhero whose superpowers include gobbling up cookies in record time, giving slobbery kisses, and making people feel loved and appreciated.
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, Batman the pitty pup!
But this superpup needed someone to rescue him now. Friends like you did just that by supporting his care. When Batman arrived at CHS, he was tilting and shaking his head, and the smell from his ears—oof! His right ear was badly infected and even a gentle touch to the area made him shy away in pain. The medical team began treating him right away.
Despite his discomfort, this 7-year-old pooch worked hard to thank everyone for their attention. As soon as you greeted him, he’d give you a kiss or lean into your legs. If people were around, forget about toys! But if you threw one for him to chase, he’d dash after it to make you happy. And when he spent time in a volunteer foster home, he was even a good friend to the resident pup (a prior CHS adoptee).
Thankfully, Batman’s ear treatments began to work. He got ear drops, ear flushes and medicine, and even a special diet. The head shaking stopped, and he didn’t constantly itch anymore.
Batman will need weekly ear cleanings for life, and he soon found a new family who was experienced with dogs who have medical challenges. Today, Batman is now Finn. But he’s still a superhero to all who’ve known him.
“Everything has been wonderful, and he has settled right in at home,” his new mom says. “We are so happy with our new family member.”
